From Sauna to Shower: A Complete Bathroom Renovation in Unley Park

The Client's Story

Both interior design trends and lifestyle needs change over time, and what was considered a desirable feature in one period, or an essential for one particular family, may no longer meet a homeowner’s needs.

This is the case on this recent Adelaide bathroom renovation project, where the client wanted to create a new bathroom that better met the family’s lifestyle. The key aspect of this home renovation project was converting an existing sauna into an additional bathroom, predominantly for the use of the family’s children.

The client had only recently purchased the house and wanted this substantial change to the floorplan so that the space was better utilised and more suited to the family’s needs and lifestyle. One of the key must haves for the client was for the overall style of the new bathroom, including all the fixtures and fittings, to remain in keeping with the other bathrooms in the house. This was important to maintain a coherent design style throughout.

After

What marks out this bathroom renovation is the way the floor plan makes optimum use of the available space as the original sauna was small. The ultimate effect is that although this is a relatively small bathroom, it nevertheless manages to look both spacious and stylish.

The herringbone tiles are a genuinely eye-catching feature, and they are highlighted even further by a LED strip behind the mirror, creating a stylish soft lighting effect over the custom floating vanity unit. The rustic style tapware also stands out sensationally against the crisp white tiles, and was important in meeting the client’s design style needs.

Another highlight is the tall shower screen, as this helps to make the most of the available space. The shower looks even more impressive through the inclusion of a large, brass effect rain shower head, which is an eye-catching yet highly practical feature.
