Effectively using space in Osborne

The Client's Story

The clients were drawn to their property by its standout features, including an ideal entertaining space and pool. The interior of the home required some attention, prompting the decision to embark on a renovation journey. The clients, known for their sociable nature, whether hosting gatherings or savoring a glass of red wine, recognised the kitchen as the heart of their home. They envisioned it seamlessly connected to the alfresco and pool area, with décor reflecting their distinctive personalities and tastes.

The original spaces not only exhibited a noticeably outdated and weary appearance, but the overall quality of finishes fell significantly below par. Numerous small add-ons over the years had led to mismatched elements throughout the property. The existing kitchen, in particular, suffered from a cramped and dim layout. Ineffectively utilised space rendered it far from the inviting hub of the home, making it a place one would reluctantly spend time in.

We revamped the kitchen by enlarging the existing window opening and installing a set of expansive bi-fold windows featuring a sleek bottom track, flush stone benchtops, and a bar/servery extending to the external side of the wall. This transformation allows the clients to enjoy a glass of red in their alfresco space by the pool while engaging in conversation with those in the kitchen. Additionally, we introduced another servery/bar area connecting the lounge/hall to the kitchen, providing the clients with multiple vantage points for socialising.

New joinery was implemented throughout, featuring Florentine walnut woodmatt base cupboards and vibrant orange overheads, reminiscent of the 60s era. The colour palette, echoing the retro vibes, managed to strike a perfect balance between retro and contemporary styles.

The flooring was completely replaced with a striking Majorca pattern tile, contributing to the room’s ambiance and aligning seamlessly with the clients’ vision and overall décor.

To enhance functionality, a gas cooktop and a butler’s sink were installed in the kitchen, reflecting the clients’ passion for cooking. These additions not only elevated the aesthetic appeal but also made the kitchen a highly functional and practical space.

The success of this renovation is attributed to its brilliant design, skillful incorporation of vibrant colours, and a precise alignment with the clients’ vision.
