Changing Space for a Downsizing Family in Parkside

The Client's Story

A changing family structure calls for a home to match. These clients wanted to create a space that worked for the two of them, now that the kids had moved out it was all about them!

The original areas where very tired, dark and not being used. This turned into an exciting process, creating a new vision for a changing lifestyle. Now with more space to play with, there was opportunity to build a walk through robe and ensuite for the master bedroom, turning it into a complete master suite.

Further to this, our clients wanted a unique space, creating an integrated study and wine room with ample storage, something the previous floor plan had not allowed for.

Part two of this project will include maximising space in the existing kitchen (currently under construction).

After

The new floor plan was the true game changer in this renovation. It was not as simple as changing one room into two. There were new doorways installed, new concrete slabs poured, new walls framed and new ceilings installed, as well as some structural work to the existing building.

The bulk of the work was in the bedroom and small dark robe area, which was transformed into a stunning walk-through robe, ensuite, pantry and study/wine area. The results speak for themselves.

The main challenge in the project was the start up. Every measurement was critical to the outcome of each individual room. It was very important at the initial deconstruct phase to foresee each individual room as it would be, once complete.
